You'll have better luck getting responses on this if you put it in the Trip Planning forum since this portage is in the BWCA, and not in Quetico, as frequenters of this forum are talking about.


I have done that portage before, though. It was 6-7 years ago. I recall it being long and fairly flat with some wet and muddy sections. We did it on a daytrip without our packs, so it didn't seem too bad. Being a flat, low-lying portage though I'm sure in higher water conditions or in the early season it could be pretty muddy and wet. Overall, I don't recall it being a portage worth routing around by any stretch.

My old post disappeared and can't remember the replies. How is the 237 rod portage north of Alice into Thomas. Also curious about Roe to Cap to Boulder lake.
