If the News Chronicle posts the Lake County Sheriff’s report on its website, there should be a mention of the incident in the report a week from now.
lskidder	06/27/2019 08:08PM My grandsons and I were on Kekekabic in 2016 and stopped for lunch at the protected campsite in the bay on the east end. We decided to contest the wind (20-25mph) and whitecaps and headed straight into it with our Souris River three seater and had no problem at all. Made it to the campsite on the corner heading to Wisini and had a great night.

The whole time we were at the lodge earlier this month, the wind was from the west and mild, just ripples. One day I look out the window from our bunkhouse and the wind is just roaring from the opposite direction. Run down to the dock to find our boat, which is positioned stern to the East, is just getting hammered and taking waves over the transom. I had to move fast to hook up the trailer and get the boat out of the water before it was too late. I have never had that much water in my boat! An hour later we had clearing skies and the wind was back to maybe 5 mph from the west. Crazy.
flynn	06/27/2019 10:48AM My friends and I had a genuine white knuckle experience on Kek last year with the wind out of the SE. We wanted to go to the campsite west of the Pickle portage, and had to cut out into the lake at a 45 degree angle to the waves, twice, to get over there, so we wouldn't be broadsided by waves. Those turns into and away from the waves were stressful. Definitely respected big water that day. Also, where did you hear about this?
BobDobbs	06/25/2019 12:51PM When the wind is coming from the east, Kek is no joke. I've been scared before on some of the bigger lakes (LLC comes to mind) but Kek seems to be aligned with the prevailing winds coming from Lake Superior in such a way that it can go from small ripples to big rollers in minutes. hope everyone got home safe!
pitster	06/25/2019 12:10AM Looks like they had all emergency personnel out on the Moose lake launch near LaTourells on Sunday afternoon. Hope they got whomever out ok.
