Yes, no getting around going to the Ranger Station to get your permit.

2020 fee is same as 2019. $19.00 plus $2.47 Tax =$21.47CDN for non-residents at South Entry Points

If the price you quoted is accurate, that is less expensive than last year for a PP entry. Also, you cannot print your permit; you need to pick it up.

The beauty of it is, once I pay the balance of my camping fees, I don't spend a dime for 14 days... I will keep paying it.

Ontario Parks confirmed you DO have to stop at Prairie Portage for permits, no matter what. You can get the online for some other parks, not Quetico.

$19.00/night canadian is cheaper than last year (I think I was charged $22.50 canadian). Everyone goes through the Ranger station for permits.

Yes $20/night is steep compared to free, but compared to any other vacation its a bargain. My last trip we had 8 out of 10 nights as the lone occupants of a lake.

Well worth it.

I'm confused.
New policy says you have to pay entire reservation fee at time of reservation. I did mine last night and it only charged me for one person of a two person party. So I guess that didn't happen.

It was $19 per person per night plus tax for entry at Prairie Portage. Isn't that a substantial increase from last year too? At least that is CDN funds. But $558.22 CDN including tax for two people 13 nights is getting kind of steep... That is $429.83 US at today's exchange rate.

I am also confused, it was rumored you can print off your permit online within two weeks of entry. Not sure if this applies to backcountry camping at Quetico? Somebody mentioned you no longer have to pick up your permit at the ranger station. The text is confusing.
I did email Ontario Parks for clarification on the permit pickup.
