01/13/2020 08:54AM It doesn't appear that Coo Lake is in the BWCA, so you can camp on this lake. In fact, the DNR says there is a 1/3 mile portage to the lake. |

01/12/2020 05:41PM I would just go to Quetico and do some bushwhacking. No regs on where you camp. |

01/12/2020 05:39PM I believe the rules are camping only at designated sites other than within the PMA's and they require a separate permit. It would be a nice way to get some privacy. |

01/12/2020 04:14PM I like to explore the small lakes that are nearby, but are not connected by portages or have listed campsites. As an example, look at the EP maps section - EP4 and nearby Coo Lake. Can I camp on Coo Lake as if it were in a PMA? I am aware of the regs on camping at established areas of the BWCA, about marked campsites and fire rings, etc., but what about the hundreds of small isolated lakes with no established sites? So far, a hike in, fishing from shore and lunch has been all I want, but just curious about other options. |
