McEwen is a great destination. Take the campsite at the top of the south end and fish for lake trout out in front. The trip also includes part of the Falls Chain.

Try Blackstone. It's a challenge getting to this remote area... go in via Slate Lake. There is only one campsite on the lake, so talk to Janice. She may know if people were planning to be there. Caught my largest Northern ever there.

Emerald Lake is a beauty. I've only camped there while traveling, but it looks like a good lake to spend time. Carp also is pretty.

Spent a day fishing Jasper for lake trout with no luck. But caught several on a Banta daytrip. Lilypad... unknown. CN side of Ottertrack is okay. Big site on the NE arm, north side. My fishing partner still recalls the huge lake trout that got away... keep your rod tip up!

Nifty Kitchen, Poison Ivy, Bonsai are all great sites on Saganagons where I could easily spend a week. A day trip to Moose Bay Lake for fishing is fun time. And would be remote if you camped there. Not a well established site there.

Have fun planning.

Any other route recommendations?

dogdigger: "Is Janice still the ranger at Cache Bay? " Yes... for a couple years, maybe. Allot extra time to chat!

She is a true hero in my life. I can't imagine.

Why the rut for staying on Saganagons? Good fishing?
. "

Yes. The fishing opportunities are endless. Great campsites and no crowds. All four species available. If fishing was not allowed, i would have been done with canoeing years ago.

We're debating a falls chain/man chain trip for later this year. We've never been to the Q so I'll be following this to see what else is said.

Thank you, I’ve been using this board for years, but never joined for some reason. It’s always a tough decision to decide where to go.

I was thinking of heading for Mack Lake and then over to Kawnipi, but I wasn’t sure if that would be too ambitious for 8 days with a bunch of fishing. I read that they let float planes into Mack also? That would be a big turn off for me if that was still the case.

Hi Guys, I'm planning a trip for late July and trying to get some route ideas. This will be my 7th trip in the Quetico. Love fishing and would plan to have a couple layover days to fish. I have done the falls chain once, but couldn't make it into kawnipi due to weather. Most of my trips have been out of Prairie . What places/routes should I be considering?

Thank you,
