That is the route I have taken the last 2 trips. Most likely will be doing it this trip also
Thanks for the input

Getting to Brent that way is tough. You might go to Kawnipi instead. Agnes is a big highway straight up that way. You could then take Kahshapiwi on the way back to pp.

time and $$ not an issue. Difficulty of the portages MAY be. I know there are a couple of hard ones going to brent from PP, but I know nothing about the portages into the man chain.

Oh man, if you can get away for that long and the $$ and hassle aren't an issue, go to Quetico. That's an easy one. :)

Thank you for the input. The last 2 trips I took ( 15 years ago) we did the knife to frazier imma loop. I have allways done well fishing there, and no overly taxing portages. About 40 years ago I did the trip pp,to isabllea to sarah to burt. But I am a little leary if my father, or me for that matter can handle the tough portages in and out of sarah and McIntyre now. thank you again. Right now that is the planned trip. this will probably be my dads last trip ( age ) so was thinking about getting him back into quetico one more time.

Since it looks like Quetico is in play, that would fit your fishing and less people wishes. However, usually the portages are a little to a lot rougher.

Heading toward Knife is all easy portages that are along a common route. Since you have a lot of days....spend day 1 on Birch and fish below the rapids. Day 2 head to north arm of Knife. Check out Thunder point while you go by. Spend a day or two or three in the north arm. Head for Ottertrack or Ester/Hanson for a day or two. Then south arm of Knife for a few days, check out and fish the falls, and back the way you came. Very leasurely pace and route, good fishing, not and real nasty portages at all.

Thanks for the input, but we are pretty set on EP25. logistically for us it just makes for an easier and hassle free entry. we stay with an outfitter on Moose and get a tow in.

I'm taking a 7 day loop in June starting at Sawbill, through the lady chain to Malberg, up to Little Sag, then back to Sawbill through Hub and Mesaba. My trip will be 5 travel days, 1 day trip to visit the pictographs at Fishdance and one rest day on Little Sag. You could do the same trip with less traveling each day and more days to explore, or you could extend the trip by taking a detour through Alice, Thomas and Frasier then taking the Cap to Lodge lake portage towards Little Sag. If you take it slow, you could add 3 days there and maybe a few more taking the rest of the trip a little easier then I will.

Entry point 25, looking at a ten to thirteen day trip. Would like to keep it at ten days, but could be pushed to thirteen if necessary. In order of preferences - good fishing, ease of portages, fewer people.

Would you choose Knife Lake, Frasier, Ima, Ensign loop?

PP, Isabella, Side, Sara, McIntyre, Brent. Not sure on the way back out... the Man Chain?

Thanks
