03/04/2020 02:31PM Lovely lake! Ameober (sp?) to the south is beautiful as well with some trout opportunities. I stayed here at the narrows during September and was overrun by pack attack mice. Sprawling campsite with great views of the cliffs. The hanson Portage was hilly but well maintained. Good sized walleye in cherry, but a little tough to locate. Troll out from the east shoreline, north of the narrows. |

03/03/2020 06:08AM A few years ago we took the earliest tow to American Point. From there, I think it is four portages to Cherry. The Hanson portage is a billy goat trail. We double portaged and made it to the narrows site by early afternoon. We day tripped through Lake of the Clouds (best lake name ever). The mother of all blue berry patches is at the southern most portage into Lake of the Clouds. A great area! |

03/02/2020 02:32PM We stayed on Cherry during our June '17 trip. We stayed in the narrows site.....furthest east, which is the preferred site, IMO. Site was fine, but I've stayed in nicer in the BWCA...not much cover at the fire grate. We read about a persistent snapper at that site....and he certainly made a visit. It wasn't phased by us at all and made it tough to keep a stringer full in the water. Deep lake....gorgeous scenery.....the portage to Hanson sucks.

03/02/2020 10:38AM Cherry is a very cool lake to spend some time on. Only two campsites but both are above average. The highlight for our group was my oldest son catching a 32" walleye on our first evening on the lake back in 2008. After a few pics we released her and she swam away in good shape. You'll enjoy Cherry. |

02/28/2020 10:05PM We stayed there 2 nights last year, a very cool lake. Here's plenty of info on here already if you use the search function. If your tow is early, you could easily be there on Day 1. But there's only 2 sites so have other options in mind. We came in and out from the west, which is easiest as far as portages. The one from Hanson isn't the easiest and the one going north is real rugged. (Not that you'd get there that way) It's a cool hike though if you're looking for a hike and view of another lake even if you don't take the canoe |
