Z4K: "Are you entering at Brant (Gillis) or Missing Link (Tuscarora)? There are lake trout in almost every lake in the Gillis/Gabi neighborhood. This area was hit pretty hard by the Cavity Lake Fire in 2006 but is recovering well.
I've thought quite a bit about a similar trip. Mine would have another day or three and I'd fish Fraser, Raven, Little Sag and Tuscarora on the way back from Kek.

Fraser, Raven and Makwa hold LT as well. Brookies are stocked in Missing Link as well as Mine and Bingshick along the Kekekabic trail."

I am planning on a 40-45 mile loop going through both Brant and Missing Link, but haven't decided which one to start with. I will probably only spend a 1/2 day on brook trout in Missing Link and Mavis Lakes.
I want to hit Gillis, Peter, Gabi, Kek, Little Sag, and Tuscarora. Maybe a couple hours on some smaller lakes like Powell, Fern, or Bat.
When are you planning on going?

cowdoc: "I've been between Gabi and Kek a few times via Agamok and Ogish. On the portage between Agamok and Mueller, take the side spur Kek Trail and go see Mueller Fall. You'll also be close to Eddy Falls where it dumps into SAK. LT in Tusc, Crooked, Gillis, Gabi."
How long should I plan for the trip between Gabi and Kek, single portaging?

allforfreeforall: "A fair amount of experience on kek. Seem to be lt all over that lake. That said we have had a few legendary times trolling around the island in the SE portion. The one with the island site. Might be with your while by then to pull over into knife/sak... lots to choose from there too."
Thanks for the tips on the island. Any size to the Lakers in Kek?
Kek will probably be about as far as I go, since I'm coming in from Brant or Missing Link.

Hello-I am looking to go for my first BWCA trip since 2006, since the border to Canada is currently closed. I am thinking a solo 7 day, 6 night trip, focusing on catching as many lake trout as possible. I want to enter through Round Lake, and go at least as far as Gabi before looping back through Tuscarora.

Has anyone gone between Gabi and Kekekabic? I might want a little extra challenge before looping back.

Any great campsites or views that are worth extra effort to get to?
