Could it be a pinned post much like you do in the cooking/recipe forum?

I like to use the free outfitter maps for this. They're just on regular paper but show all the relative info. I mark up our planned route but they know things can change. I'm not leaving behind a good waterproof map, but my relatives know exactly the areas we'll be in or near.

Jackfish: "Great idea, Scott. I'll check with Adam to see if the website has the ability to add that information.

Rule #1 on the list of things any good wilderness adventurer should do, ALWAYS leave an itinerary and emergency contact information with a friend and/or loved ones back at home (or a knowledgeable paddler who has been through the area you're traveling) so a search party can be sent out if you don't reconnect with the world in a timely fashion."

Thanks!

Each year, as I put together our trip plan, I have to look up the emergency numbers (sheriff's number, etc), outfitter phone number and add them in for family who might need it...and I got to thinking...As I looked around the planning pages on this site, I don't see emergency contact information for public agencies, any summarized info about what to do/who to call in an emergency and what kind of information to leave behind in a trip plan.

As it seems the BWCA is getting a lot of new visitors, and a lot of folks funnel through this site, it might be a good idea to summarize and compile some of this information in the planning sections. Even info about how/where to rent a sat phone or PLB if needed might be helpful. I just know I didn't really think much about it on my first trips, and it might be helpful for folks just getting started. I didn't see anything about leaving behind a trip plan in the planning tab nor on the sample checklist.

My apologies if it is indeed here and I didn't find it in my first ten minutes of searching. Just a thought. I'm happy to contribute content if anyone wants to crowd-source that contribution with me.
