gotwins	07/20/2020 09:23PM I love the Superior National Forest map too, but it can be a bit unruly in the car to navigate with. I use either the Delorme Gazetter for Minnesota or the Nat Geo Recreational Atlas. I think the Nat Geo is easier to read for my eyes.

HayRiverDrifter	07/20/2020 08:48AM Back in the day before smart phones, ... the Gazetteer map book was my goto. You buy the book for Minnesota and it contains detailed maps of the whole state. For on-line, take a look at caltopo.com

Blatz	07/19/2020 03:18PM Yup the Superior National Forest map from the Forest Service is your very best choice. I used to for a Bikepacking trip a few years ago. Very accurate. Most roads up there are very well maintained gravel roads. But it also shows unimproved roads that where fun to bike on

A recent tribute to Bud Heinselman is here: Miron "Bud" Heinselman Bud was an early conservationist working within the USFS, a remarkable scientist and not widely recognized relative to his impact. Everyone knows Sigurd Olson and R. Newell Searle, but a lot of folks don't know about Heinselman. Thanks for sharing that link, Bill. ~Beth

Mail your order to: Superior National Forest 8901 Grand Avenue Place Duluth , MN 55808 We are now able to take credit card orders over the phone. alpinebrule	07/17/2020 04:09PM I got one years ago that is of the national forests up there that shows "every" road. Made of actual dead trees. Not at home right now but having wife get the exact name for you. Believe I purchased it at a National Ranger Station along the shore. Will update when have more info or perhaps someone else can fill in the missing info. Think this is it. Where to purchase maps: Superior National Forest Visitor Map (2018 edition, map scale = ½ inch to 1 mile) The 2018 edition includes the entire Forest with the western portion on one side and the eastern portion of the Forest on the other side. Features on the map include the road system, lakes, streams, recreation areas, ownership, points of interest, and other information beneficial to Forest visitors. Maps are printed on water and tear resistant paper. rdgbwca	07/17/2020 02:20PM Hello, A lot of EPs are off of gravel roads. I am thinking of the Echo Trail and the Sawbill Trail right now. Is there a map book/road atlas of these gravel roads that can be ordered online? Thanks
