Hey MC2020,
Feel free to join the site. It's free and a painless minute or two to type in the info needed. Lots of great resources and different forum groups that will be eager to help you with your planning and research. Also, post up a trip report when you get back if you get the time. I'm sure we all would be interested in how your adventure played out! Good luck!

egknuti Thanks for the estimate!

It’s been a while since I’ve traveled all the way to Bald Eagle but I think between 4-5 hours seems correct. Unless you’ve got a strong west wind. That would make crossing Bald Eagle a little more challenging.

Thanks for the information. I think that camping at Bald Eagle lake will have to be our plan. Any idea on how long that paddle will be? We are fit late 20s, two person canoe.

You'll find a lack of the larger trees but as always, nature is coming back with a vengeance in this area.

The first day of your trip will be mostly burn area. I don’t think you’ll want to camp there. I’d try to get to Bald Eagle to look for a site. But there is good fishing in the river.

Thank you these are great. I'm glad to see some regrowth.

I believe there have been a few recent trip reports from those areas with pictures. It's definitely recovering but limited as far as large trees obviously.

Hi All,
I have a permit for entry 34, Island river with a 4 day canoe planned. From Island River to Isabella River into bald Eagle Lake and then Gabbro Lake. Does anyone have recent photos of how the area looks after the 2009 Fire? I want to set my expectations accordingly. Many Thanks!
