08/25/2020 03:44PM Did that exact route last fall (late September) with my wife last year and the creek was very paddleable. Water is low right now but I imagine it would still be fine. Not too rocky, just weedy. |

08/22/2020 09:06AM There were a couple really nice campsites on Gebe. Caught about a 7 lb laker on Gun. I heard Fat if full of little lakers. We didn't fish Pocket, but talked to some campers who did well for smallies last year. It was funny, they were fishing from shore, and had an eagle about 12 feet away, just waiting for a scrap. The creek had plenty of water June of 2019. But I think we had more rain in 2019. |

I did one in Temagami that I had to put the canoe on the trail, walk the length of the canoe, pull it forward, walk the length of the canoe, repeat. I made a video on the other end and my comment at the time was “it smells like trucker farts and death in there”. |

08/20/2020 09:11PM I am eyeing a very similar trip as a solo next spring. Definitely going north but wondering what lakes might be better to camp on for whatever reason. I'm thinking of spending some time on LLC. Tentatively thinking about a Slim, North, Eugene, Gun, Takucmich, LLC, Pocket Creek, Gobe, Oyster route. Would love any opinions on this! |

08/20/2020 08:23PM Actually going first and second week in September. Lots of good feedback. Going to be a tough call. Do like the idea of the smaller more isolated lakes. Wondering if we can get the best of both worlds! Do the smaller lakes then head south through Ge-be creek to bigger bodies of water. |

Your experience may vary" I wanted to do this route because of the smaller lakes with just a few camp sites on them. Hoping it pays off but I’m already preparing myself for it to be busy. |

08/20/2020 04:49PM Don't miss the pretty waterfall at the beginning of the portage to Ge-be-on-e-quet. We didn't take the portage over, as we wanted to just explore the creek to its end at the portage, but I heard the water and had to investigate.

08/20/2020 11:42AM When are you planning to go? Lynx, Shell, Nina Moose, etc can get pretty bonkers peak season. Never had a problem on gebe creek, but it isn’t a big one by any means. I’ll be there in Sept. |

08/20/2020 09:18AM I paddled the creek at the second half of June this year. There was an obvious channel down the middle and lots of lily pads. It was passable. I did not have to pull over any beaver dams. Other considerations about your loop. If you go through Hustler you will be choosing the longest portages. If you go further north, you will probably see less people. If you go north it might make sense to camp on Eugene and make day trips for fishing to Gun and or Fat. Gun is supposed to be a good small mouth lake. Depends on how many days you have. There is a portage on the north loop into Steep Lake. This portage has a reputation. I thought it was the hardest portage of the trip. It is basically 120 rods straight up (if you go from North Lake to Steep Lake). Either way you go, I like your plan to go from 14 to 16. I did a loop that started and ended at 14. I would have preferred to go from 14 to 16. |

08/19/2020 09:40PM Gebe creek my be a little weed choked and there may be a beaver dam or 2 to push over, but is usually paddle worthy. Pocket is ok for fish. Finger is the lake i like on the loop and did good there fishing. Just traveled through the others. Did the loop in reverse....Slim first night, next 2 on Finger, last 2 on Hustler, back out 14. The northern loop is usually a little less busy than the southern loop. |

08/19/2020 09:15PM Looking at a trip from ep 14 to 16. Exploring whether to go west to east through Shell, Lynx, Hustler, Oyster, Agnes or further north through Loon, Slim, South, Sleep, Eugene, Beartrack, Thumb, Finger, Pocket. Wondering if anyone has been through this route recently and if we have to go to LLC from Pocket or if Ge-be-on-e-quet Creek is passable from Pocket Creek to Ge-be-on-e-quet Lake? Asked on another post and fishing seems good on the lakes on the southern route we are eyeing, but wouldn't mind getting further north as well. |
