Consider Sawbill Outfitters off Hwy 61 as they are open year around (at least that’s what the owner told me in October a couple of years ago, so verify this) and you can launch from their location.

Thanks folks I will be looking into these

Voyageur North in Ely will still be open!

I was just looking into this myself. Looks like Sawtooth in Tofte is open year round and includes a rack system. Of course verify before you show up, but that is what we are looking into.

I will be coming from Rochester, MN and I really don’t know what side I will be departing from. Kind of depends on where I can get a canoe.

I don’t have a way to strap one onto my car. Wow, thanks... something to look into.

Ely side or Gunflint trail?

Where see you coming from and are you willing to strap it to your roof for a few hours? The rec center at the U of M in Minneapolis rents to the public and their rates are competitive, maybe even a little less, than I’ve seen at outfitters in the BWCA.

I’m planning an impromptu trip for October and I need to rent a canoe. I know outfitters close in October. Are there any still open to rent one? Thanks.
