The McKenzie maps you'll need:

#9 (Snowbank, Basswood) covers Moose and the routes into Knife.

#8 (Knife, Kekekabic) includes the western part of knife and most of SAK. For a map of the small portion of SAK that is NE of Toe Lake, you could just print a screen shot of a map here on BWCA.com.

#26 (This Man, Cache) includes the NE end of SAK, the eastern portion of Knife, Ottertrack, etc. You'll only need this map if you don't want to print a screen shot of the NE end of SAK (see above).

Voyager maps are awesome. They are smaller scale than either Fisher or Mackenzie but the added information on them enhances the BWCA experience. I love the geological and historical info along with the list of lakes with the fish available in each one.

In addition to Fisher maps (my preference), I like to have the two-map National Geographic set that covers the entire BWCA. Got it on Amazon. The set contains one East BWCA and one West BWCA map. Really handy and great to have as the safety versions that I keep securely in the canoe.

If you can find a place that sells BWCA maps, like REI. They will often sell both the Fisher, and MacKenzie versions. They will often have a complete overview map laying on top of the cabinet, that will show the coverage of the smaller maps.

Something like this:

Fisher map breakout

or this

MacKenzie Map Breakout

They don't have exactly the same coverage areas for the smaller maps. One is often more inclusive of your route than the other.

Some routes, I have to buy 3 maps of one brand, but can get by with 1 or 2 maps of the other.

I tend to like the Fisher maps better.

GBR!!

I bought WA Fisher maps for my trip. There is the F-11 map (Snowbank, Knife Kek.), and I also got the F-32 Special Seagull Area map. The F-32 has more of the lakes to the north east that I want to explore that are not on the other map.

I'm sure there are plenty other's to choose from as well though.
