04/02/2021 06:52AM I've always wanted to paddle through a burned area, and I thought early season before permit season starts would be a perfect time. I will be watching the ice out carefully, and if it isn't gone by the time I head up I will just go hiking instead. That's another good thing about going before permit season, if one plan doesn't work out I'm not stuck at a certain EP. Thanks for the input. |

04/01/2021 08:17PM That'll be pushing it for ice out for sure. I'd look at an EP with more current. Maybe Island River or South Kawishiwi? |

04/01/2021 07:42PMcyclones30: "how many permits still available? that should tell you roughly how busy it'll be...which that's a busy one but probably not that early in the year " The quota season doesn’t start until May 1st, so BB will have to just go and see if anyone else is out there. I think you’re going to Lake One at the perfect time. The rapids between Lake 1 and 2 will be beautiful and you shouldn’t run in to many people. The southern shores of lake 2 and 3 are burned, but it’s not bad. Perfect time to go! Have fun! |

04/01/2021 03:06PM Looking at going in the 16th of April to try and get a trip in before lake season starts for my family. Either looking to enter on Lake One and putz around for a few days, or, if ice is still not completely off, I will hike the Sioux hustler trail. Anything I should know about the numbered lakes area except that some of it is burned? Thanks |
