In follow up to Lynn's post, if you would like to move your permit from a FS Ranger Station pick to a cooperator, you need to call the Forest Service Ranger Station to do this. You cannot do this through the recreation.gov system.

They can also be picked up at a cooperator.

From Ranger station: For all other reservations, the forest asks visitors to plan to pick up permits in-person. Permits can be picked up at a Forest Service district office or a cooperator. For a full list of cooperators, visit the link below
Be sure to confirm hours of operation and location when choosing a cooperator.

I sent a message to Maggie at the Kawishiwi station to see what Virtual permit groups need to show for a cooperator to issue the permit.

Please make sure you are aware of FS office hours and logistics that may be impacted based on your need to pickup the permit in person.

ATTN BWCAW VISITORS:This is the last full week of virtual permit issuance. Starting on Monday, July 12, wilderness permits will need to be picked up in-person at a Forest Service office or at a cooperator. If you have questions about your reservation or issue station, please reach out to the Forest Service office closest to your entry point: www.fs.usda.gov/detail/superior/about-forest/offices. Moving forward, virtual will ONLY be available on Sundays for visitors who selected Tofte or LaCroix district offices as their permit issue station, due to these offices being closed on Sunday this year. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU for your patience and flexibility as we navigate returning to in-person services. If you have questions regarding your permit issue station during the transition, please contact the Forest Service at 218-626-4300.
