Yeah had to cancel one of my trips due to the air. My brother is already struggling as it is and don't want to risk having an attack out there. Now I need to drive somewhere else for a trip.

Very smoky tonight and thick.

It's been hazy in the Twin Cities, too. I have asthma and it's kicking my butt.

Air quality alert is back in place thru at least Friday for the arrowhead region.

My eyes are most affected by the smoke.

A guy I work with just cancelled his BW trip due to the smoke in the Boundary Waters and a couple in his party having respiratory issues. They are headed to somewhere in southern Minnesota instead.

Looking out my window right now in Two Harbors...the horizon is hazy with smoke. It's been like that for a few days. We were quite a ways out of town this weekend and wen we came back, you could smell it. Right now I don't smell it (only see it), but I think i've just become used to the smell.

The air quality alert has been lifted for that area, but if the wind shifts back to the NW or N, it is likely to get bad again.

You can check current conditions and get a 2 day forecast from the MN Pollution Control Agency. MPCA Air Quality

Definitely air quality issues around Ely off and on for the last week- its not the local fires that are causing it but the big burns in Western Canada.

As someone who has been asthmatic for the past 30+ years I would be careful about exposing anyone to prolonged poor air quality. I am still working on recovering from a flare up in the last month and I have had no exposure but still needed several trips to the ER over the holiday weekend.

My son and I are scheduled to go in on Wednesday, 7/14, for 4 days from EP 25 (Moose Lake). With the fires I’m looking to see if there are any issues with the air quality in that area? My son has some asthmatic symptoms so any info before we leave would be helpful! Thank you!
