What is "locked down"?

I was camping with my brother in VNP many years ago. We didn't know about the Kettle Falls hotel/bar. We basically stumbled on it. So we came from a wilderness trip to drinking cold beer in a bar. It was surreal.

It's been many years since I was there but Frontier Resort, the first resort you would come to on the Ash River, sold gas.

It's been a year or two for me too. Are you talking about Lost Lake or Lost Bay?
"

Yes, my mistake, I was talking about Lost Lake. I am a little familiar with Lost Bay, I camped near there one time about 10 years ago. We put out a fire there when I worked for the Park in 94.

This will bring you to information and photos about each of the individual campsites in Voyagers National Park, just fun to look at not to mention very helpful to pick out a campsite:

As far as gas, I'm sure it's available at Ash River (the community, not the National Park visitor center)

Which dates are you considering? I camp in VNP several times a year and have visited most of the campsites.

It's been a year or two for me too. Are you talking about Lost Lake or Lost Bay? At least according to Caltopo, Lost Lake is the little bay across from the Ash river visitor center. Lost Bay is sort of the easternmost dead end bay on Kabetogama. It's about 4 or 5 miles from the visitor center. You're off the main lake so you lose some traffic. It also is the trailhead for the Cruiser Lake trail, which I highly recommend. I don't know if they still do , but they used to have canoes you could check out on the interior lakes. Cruiser has a good population of small lake trout.

There are a ton of nice campsites in Voyageurs. I don't really think you can go wrong. The ones in Lost Bay are nice. I also stayed on Sexton Island once which I remember was a nice campsite but right on the channel to Namakan and up to Kettle falls, so the entertainment was watching the boats go by. Have also stayed near Namakan Narrows, which is a very scenic area. Can't pinpoint any campsites really, but like I say you can't really go wrong.

Anyone have recommendations on sites?
Tony 07/21/2021 04:45PM
Kettle falls or the resorts on rainy will have gas and ice. All the campsites need to be reserved on recreation.gov. I would assume the resorts on the other lakes will have gas

Okay Folks,
If BWCA is still locked down come entry date, my kids and I are considering VNP. The last time I spent time there, the sites did not require reservations. I have loads of questions of course.

1. Considering we would be in a boat, where can we get gas out there (other than Crane)?
