Depends on water levels in the river....and if the border is open. If things are "normal" for both of those I don't see why not. But it seems easier just to call those providers instead of ask here....they should know their business plans better than us right?

Does anyone know if the tows will be back in service for the 2022 season?

I have also used Andersons and been to Zups. Great people and service.

What AluminumBarge said about the border, documentation, and customs is correct.

I’ve taken the tow to Bottle Portage from Crane Lake using Anderson’s for the tow. Motors are allowed on the Canadian side but if you aren’t traveling to a Canadian destination you don’t need any documentation or need to go through customs. The border portages are open to both sides of the border without needing documentation. Setting foot anywhere else in Canada is not allowed without proper permits. I’ve also gone through Zups and needed to go through customs since we stayed there before our trip.

I’m not sure what happened when the pandemic started. We went to Bottle Portage in early June 2020 and there was no problem going all the way. Shortly after they weren’t allowed any farther than Snow Bay as I understand it. The border was closed at the time we went so not sure why we were allowed, but later they weren’t. Maybe it took a while to understand what was allowed and what wasn’t, but since then until the border re-opened you couldn’t go past Snow Bay.

It's not available unless the border is open. So last year and this year the farthest they could go is just past the Beatty portage. (since that's as far as you can go in the US)

Your best bet is call the company you're wanting to use....I'm sure they get asked daily.

I am trying to understand the tow on Lac La Croix to Bottle portage. Since that part is closed on the US side to motors. If you get a tow on Lac La Croix for a bwca trip do you need any kind of canadian documents.
