The details... thanks Adam for managing an awesome website!

On Youtube there are about 3 or 4 videos of the campsites on Wood Lake. Don't know if this helps in any way, but I noticed them when I was viewing the portage information, cause I will be going there in mid August.

Amazing, thanks! I was hopeful the site didn't get taken down; it's a great one and we're hoping to hit it again. Thanks all! Feel free to delete this stupid misunderstanding.

Right. I still can't find 1151. As bobber said and RLJ's maps shows, it should be along the southern shore around the point of that peninsula in the middle of the lake. I've physically been there before and used this site to find it. However, it is not in the maps here anymore, and near where it should be (where I've used it before from this site) is only a blue photo spot. It is, however, still on the paddleplanner maps, so I don't know what to think.

That #2195 is a newer one. My database (Arch Harris) ends at #2172.
What mapping source are you using there, RLJ?
I may need to update...
"

I can confirm site #2195 is indeed operational. We stopped to investigate but the tent pad arrangements made us decide to stay elsewhere. There was a nesting pair of swans nearby that would have been frequent visitors.

As I have never been to this site, I can't confirm it's location. I believe it was downloaded from the bwcaCampsites.gpx file from the GPS Forum on this site."

That is definitely where that site is located.

Thanks. I just found a newer .gpx file from another paddling site with 130 more campsites than I currently have in my database (2,222 sites, although 136 of them are marked as 'closed'). Time to do some housekeeping.

gshaw: "Wondering if anyone has insight into site #1151 on Wood Lake. I should be along the north shore, in the attached pic. My daughter and I really loved that site for base camp when we were there a couple years ago, but I'm not finding it on the BWCA.com map. Might this be a site that the forest service took down due to high usage? Just wondering, as we're coming up to that area again in June and I'd like to hit that spot.

"

Campsite 1151 on Wood Lake is the northernmost red dot in bobber3's photo. My three youngest daughters and I enjoyed staying there for a week last May.

I have noticed some campsites on my paper maps (and other map websites) are not showing up on the bwca.com map. They seem like they have been "covered" or "overwritten" by photos or fishing spot notes. Some examples: the blue dot on your pic shows as a campsite on my Voyageur map, my maps show 5 campsites on Wood Lake but bwca.com only shows 3, Ensign Lake campsite 1221 (closest to Trident Lake portage) is also missing. However, the one you mention does not show up on any of my paper maps.

I fish a bit on Wood in that area... I don't remember a campsite along the north shore. There is a site not far from there that may be yours. It is north of the "d" in Wood.
