In my experience you should be fine just after ice out, as long as it doesn't snow :-)

Looks like this week's forecast is going to take care of most ice.

I think most will be fine. Hiked Hogback Scarp yesterday and south facing shoreline was mostly clear. In shaded areas we did encounter snow up the knees. Forecast is promising for strong melt though.

I’ve done 2 trips within a few days of ice out and didn’t have any problems in campsites. Portages were wetter than normal though and on one of those trips the portages had a lot of trees down.

Just got back from a trip in thru Island River EP#34.

Stopped at a handful of different sites, none had issues with mud or moisture.

I've paddled Kawishiwi the day after the ice went out. Campsites will be soggy, like northwoodsman said... and all the limbs and sticks strewn about from the winter and the wind. A nice sunny day and a breeze, especially a breeze, will dry the campsites pretty quickly.

Probably similar as after a good rain.

So with how this spring has gone, any thoughts on how the campsites will be?

Wondering mainly about the usual spring thaw cycle and the mud and muck. As well as general snow melt for the tent pads.

I'm headed to the kawishiwi triangle in 10 days or so. I'm thinking it'll probably be fine but would love if anyone has done soon after ice out trips in past years.

Thanks!
