I’m not seeing any issues when I read through these. Potatoes are the only thing but not really if the correct grade meaning no dirt basically! I was goi g into the Northwest angle of lKae of the woods when they had the chicken and egg ban a few years ago. We just go our eggs from one of the resorts.

It won’t affect me this year but next year I will go through with my daughter who is a celiac. Finding a good tasting for sure gluten free cabbage salad kit could be challenging. I’d hate to have to count on finding fresh items we know are safe after crossing into a different country into a small town.

We’re always careful but prior to tripping and for food on trip we’re beyond careful.

Also, not sure where you are crossing but there is an well-stocked Safeway in Fort Frances minutes after the border crossing-we make a habit of stopping there for fruit and vegies.

Thanks, Jackfish, and enjoyed meeting you in person in Madison.

Hey Ron... this website will help you plan which foods can be brought into Canada.

On a number of Canadian trips when we took some fresh food for use at the start of the trip we just purchased it in Canada. I remember finding fresh sweet corn at the Metro market in Thunder Bay in early August one year and taking some in. It made a big hit after a quick soak in the lake and roasting on the fire. Another item that worked well was salad kits made up of cabbage. These lasted longer than leaf lettuce.

This question is likely covered on another forum, but the answer seems to change some each year. Obviously for weight and no refrigeration reasons, most of our trip food is dried, pre packaged, or cooking oil.
It is nice, however, to start the trip with some fresh fruit, vegetables, or meat. Is there any current border crossing restriction on: oranges and apples, potatoes, red and green peppers, fresh meat, eggs?
