Michwall2	11/07/2022 07:28AM I like Curly's suggestion of Kawishiwi Lake. One hard day will bring you to Malberg Lake. Lot's of day trips to consider from there. Also out of Kawishiwi, I would consider the Lady Lakes chain (Polly, Hazel, Phoebe, Grace, Beth). Get a shuttle from Sawbill to Kawishiwi and work your way back to Sawbill. Alternately, you could start at Sawbill and go out and back to Grace/Phoebe. On the Gunflint side, I would consider going end to end from LIzz to Cross Bay Lakes (or vice versa). Stops on Horseshoe or Gaskin, Long Island Lake, and then out would give you time for fishing.
straighthairedcurly	11/06/2022 07:45PM I will preface this response with the disclaimer that I do not fish. Therefore, I am only speaking to your desire to leave some crowds behind. Instead of the Cherokee loop described by the outfitter (a very crowded route in my experience because of a density of entry points), consider entering at Kawishiwi Lake. Once you get up past Lake Polly, the crowds start to lessen. You can go up to Koma, Malberg, Kawishiwi River area, Beaver, Adams, or Kivaniva to explore and hang out depending on your travel ambitions. Lots of options and less density of people in my experience.

jrein10	11/06/2022 06:07PM Hello All! I'm looking to find a 4-day intermediate route that is away from the crowds with a focus on fishing. Targeting smallmouth and walleye with some shot at pike will be the focus. The group is 4 adults in their mid-20s and in good shape so don't mind we don't mind the extra work for better fishing or a little more remoteness. I've mostly been looking at the following page for routes. The plan was going to be to take one of the 3-day routes slow and fish more.
