We went through there last year around August 22. Plenty of floatable water with lots of beaver dams. Take the long portage out of Beartrap Lake at the little bay north of the outflow. It’s pretty easy to follow and saves lots of time as opposed to the ones following the river. About 25 minutes one way for the long one. Took about 1:40 to do the river route.
The oxbows just before Sunday Lake seemed to go on for quite awhile. But we were pretty tired at that point too. Get the PMA permit for that zone and you can spend the night at Sunday Lake . Pretty easy from Sunday to Iron with one portage in the middle plus the long one at the end

Going on a 3 person, 8 day 7 night trip starting August 11th. We enter through Angleworm Lake and planned on heading North, through the beartrap river to Sunday lake. Was curious about the water levels currently and what our trip would look like. We have called multiple outfitters and got mixed reactions on what it looks like. Any information will help!
