RT: "If you are looking for a bit more miles, check out the Thunder Point Loop. Starts on Big Sag, drop into Ottertrack, then into Knife Lake. Swing home via Eddy, Ogish, Alpine, and Sea Gull Lake. There is a "back entrance" (so to speak) to the campground if you end up parking at End of the Trail.

Plenty of places to divert. As YaMarVA mentioned, Cherry, Hanson, Ester, et al.
Here is a link to the loop. Thunder Point Loop "

The Seagull outfitters route descriptions is a great resource. After reading through several of those I think I have a plan. My wife and I did this one of those wedding “things” where we write letters and stored them away with a bottle of wine. It might be special to read those at Thunder point or some other rock out cropping.

I haven’t been to any of those lakes. My only experience out of ep55 was a tow up near the top of the lake and then I paddled down through red rock and alpine and out sea gull.

My last couple longer trips have been through ep37 to north of malberg. It’s become a favorite area. I’m finding it hard to break out of that.

Have you been to Cherry, Hanson, Ester, Ameober lakes? If not, with your current EP55 permit you could explore those lakes. I’ve had many people claim Cherry is their favorite lake, the whole area has large cliff rock outcroppings. Taking the tow to American Point can cut out the big lake if that interests you.

I need some help picking an EP for my 10th wedding anniversary trip. I have a permit for Sag. Going in for six days so we have time. I’ve only done a one night solo down through Red Rock and out Sea Gull. There are permits available for Brant.

The question is do we explore the area north of the Kekekabic trail or south? We like to cover ground. Might even head to River lake if we switch to Brant. It’s a favorite area of ours. Lots of permits available for both EPs when we are going so not screwing anyone over my switching. :)
