01/01/2013 09:28PM Also consider the handle length. If the handle's too short it's a real pain for the back. Since you're sledding in, I would recommend a little bulkier shovel in favor of not having to hunch over the whole time. I prefer the metal shovels, a bit heavier, perhaps, but plastic breaks. Metal can bust up a little ice. |

12/02/2012 02:46PM Just got this one a week ago. Garrett Wade folding shove Solidly constructed, as light as the other one, folds down compactly, and has a wide scoop. I will see how it holds up, if we EVER have winter show up this year. |

10/29/2012 04:17PM i use a small "avalanche" shovel like what butthead posted. in addition to moving a little snow around camp it is always in my sled for icefishing. has come in handy as a pry tool and for breaking up iced up sod clothes/flaps on my tent. tg |

10/29/2012 11:22AM You really have to think about how much snow you will be moving. When I used to cold camp I would bring a nice big scoop shovel- not plastic which can easily break. I would build snow walls or quinzee/snow caves etc. Now that I have a hot tent, I only really need to cover the edges of the tent and a small shovel like Butthead linked will easily do the job. |

10/25/2012 10:34AM Honestly a cheap snow shovel for the driveway can come in very handy since it has a larger blade. We have brought a plastic blade shovel and although the handle doesn't fold we simply strapped it to the outside of our gear and made out okay. Made much shorter work than a smaller shovel that has a collapsible handle. I don't recommend a plow type or push shovel. |

10/24/2012 03:54PM What do y'all use for a snow shovel around camp when going on hike in or ski in trips w/a sled or toboggan? I'm thinking I need a scoop shovel with collapsible handle. Emphasis on I "think." |
