I was in Draper last summer and I found two recognized campsites and you could probably make a couple of other ones.

The fishing was tough because of strong winds but I got a couple nice pike and lots of bass. The portage is well marked reasonably flat and no swamp.

Did you ever go to Draper Lake that you asked about way back in 2012?
I may head there this June

Did you ever get into Draper? Any nice samallies or walleyes
Any other good bass spots heading back up to pickerel

For a dead end lake it draper gets a fair amount of traffic. We got there for the first 2 nights in the park last year. It was a bit of a push for us to get there for the first night. We saw no one on draper and there is only one camp sight I think. The camp site is large and receives quite a bit of use. We found fishing poor but the wolves howling was nice.

quote cacheman: "I don't have my map handy but it is just to the west of eithe Walter or Jesse. "

it is SW of Walter. I've been on Walter a couple times... once on the way north from Sturgeon/Lonely to Jesse, another time day tripping from Jesse. Looks like to get to Draper, you get into that SW inlet corner of Walter, and instead of hitting the portage south to Lonely, you go west via a stream and a 520 M portage into Draper. Draper appears terminal after that, no other marked or waterway in or out. I'm guessing it gets very little traffic, as it is off the beaten path and terminal, and even the "beaten" path through Walter is not heavily used.

You can camp anywhere in Quetico.

Yup, but not me though. Portage into it on Chrismar map and site LJ in the pcd with comment: "This campsite site up out of the water some on a big rock. Draper Lake noted as past park Ranger Shirley Peruniak's favorite lake. A seldom used lake as it is off the beaten path. My son and I spent a night there in 2004, heard the wolves howl along the south shore all night long. Another hidden jewel on this great site. Just follow the Inukshuks and the jewel will be sought out. qp"

Sounds like a great destination - just a bummer if the only site in the pcd is occupied.
