I spoke with someone at the Tofte Ranger Station today and they said FR 170 is plowed, but the access to Wilson (355) and Whitefish (348) are not plowed.

quote ZaraSp00k: "...how well travelled is the area?"
With all things being relative, I’d say it’s moderately traveled during the winter since the Crooked Lake Resort and Trestle Inn is nearby. As well as the Tomahawk and Tofte-Lynx snowmobile trails. I’m not sure if the Grade is kept open every winter, but I know Wanless Road and what I call the Heartbreak Ridge Road (FR166) is not. I don’t know how far up they plow Co Rd 7 (Silver Island Lake Rd).

since it was mentioned here, and I'd just as soon not bring attention to the area by starting a separate thread

how well travelled is the area?

Could you let us know what you find out? I'm curious to know as well. For some reason I don't think it is but I could be wrong.

Thanks for the replies. I'll call the SNF.

If you email or call the SNF Tofte office they can tell you which roads are plowed.

I believe there are some year-round residents down that road, but don't quote me.

Sorry I know that's not a ton of help...

Anyone know if the road to Wilson Lake (a little south of the Timber-Frear area) is plowed?
