quote IshperYooper: "I am a little confused with the vehicle permits. Do you always need a vehicle permit as well when traveling/camping via canoe in the Quetico? Or do you just need a vehicle permit when camping in the BWCA and taking day trips to the Quetico?"

Vehicle permit = day pass, so you don't need a vehicle permit if you have a rack country camping permit.

As far as cross checking, I think less of a union jurisdiction and more simple job description. Also, I read US rangers were refusing to check border documents because it has gotten some shot at. I don't think the rangers signed up to stop smugglers - I suppose unless smuggling fish or trees maybe.

Fishing license, permit get checked by Rangers Quetico park personnel, customs/ immigration checks RABC. I think either official can check for all of them.

I don't think they cross check very often, I was told it was a union thing... If rangers check for RABC then they might not need as many customs agents or vice versa... Don't know if it was true could of been a joke but the last 2 rangers didn't want to see my RABC.

Hello, I've got a question I've been wondering about for a while. My group got checked last year by the park ranger for our camping permits. Everything was in line and checked out. But we got to talking.... What kind of officials can check for what in Quetico?

Our group always brings our RABC permits, Ontario fishing licenses, and Ontario Outdoors-mans' cards. But, has anyone ever been checked for these? And if so, by whom?
