quote Soledad: "A group of 7 of us just got back from the East side with grand plans of making a small loop trip down Clearwater lake to Johnson Falls and back through Caribou lake. We never made it off of Clearwater, and had to stay an extra day because we couldn't make it back out.

Even though we had slush on the way in it was spotty. It snowed every day, 10" of heavy new snow pushed the thin ice down and the water up.

8 hard hours to go 2.5 miles.

Plan to only use dogsled trails and give them the right of way, and a thankyou when they pass."

Thanks for info-how much ice at present and total slush-snow on ice?

Wow that is tough going.

There is usually a pretty good trail from the Boy Scout Base over to wind lake. You might have to take the dog sled trail up past boy scout island, then connect with the trail to wind. Have a great trip!

Taking my 12 year old on a long weekend hot tenting trip. Looking at Wind or the area on Moose before Wind portage (day trip to Wind). Anyone been out on Moose lately? Is there a dogsled trail that would go from public landing on Moose to Wind?
