Long Island is a destination lake.....meaning you have routes coming in from the N/S/E....with that said, it is a bigger lake for that area with lots of islands/campsites and lots of opportunities for day trips......Depending on when you go, Granite is a popular route because of the waterfalls/swimming holes and it is relatively easy so during peak times, you'll run across a lot of Youth groups.....The bottom line is, they are both great routes...

I can't speak to Long Island, but the Granite River has never seemed crowded. Many days you will see two or three groups moving through the river; some days you won't see any.

Thanks for the input guys, am I wrong in thinking that the Long Island route would be more secluded but the fishing better on granite river run? I'll sacrifice the peace and quiet if my 16 year old can catch a few extra fish!

Lots of Granite River advice posted in this recent thread.

I agree with Dsarg...Granite River is the better fishing route....Once you drop below Crossbay Lake, there are little to no walleye/smallmouth...With that said, Long Island lake is a beautiful lake w/plenty of campsites...if it's fishing your going for, then the Pine/Granite River route is your best bet...

Welcome!
Both are nice easy 4-5 days trips. Having been in both areas and enjoying it greatly, fishing is much better along Granite River route.

June fishing was tremendous on G.R.
July did not produce much along Long Island route.
Good luck.

Hello all, these are the 2 4/5 day trips that we have narrowed our choices down to. We are new to the BW and are looking for great fishing for this 6/23 - 6/27 trip. Greatly appreciate any thoughts...We'll go with a complete outfitter to make sure we have the right gear but are looking for must sees and experiences.
