I read about this place and we decided to check it out this past week now that the water is soft....

McKeever Cabin Story

The best way to get to the place rather than trudge that 1000 ft from the parking lot....which seems way more than that.... is to load up the canoe at the Mckeever Lake boat launch and paddle to the cabin which is in a bay.

The cabin is reservable through recreational .gov
Reservation and Cabin details

The lake is 132 acres with NO development on it....way nice to paddle the inlets and bays. From reading the cabin logs left by others this cabin is used all year round...depending on how hardy you are.

we will be back. There is another NFS cabin on Tom's lake (23 acres) which is nearby which we looked at from the outside...Larger with bunks for 8. 2 rooms
McKeever smaller with 4 bunks (limit 6).

way nice

We have considered staying here a couple of times both in the Winter and other 3 seasons. Got any pictures you can add to your post about it
