Does anyone know exactly where that is located. I'm trying to locate becasue we flew from there, and I'm trying to put a map together of my trip, including flying, etc, etc.

while we're at it......

Has anyone used any of the remote outfitters on Saganaga. It is really hard finding any information about ANY of the services that exist on the lake.

Mostly looking at the Canadian stuff, not stuff of the Gunflint.

Later,

Geo

chippewa inn is next to the old customs station on sag. look for government island, that's where the old customs station was located. building is still there but nothing is operational anymore. most likely, that is where you flew from.

interesting article about Dicky Powell and Chippewa Inn .

i don't think there are any "outfitters" on the canadian side of Sag. there is Sagonto which is where many people purchase their canadian live bait.

of course, depending on when your trip was, there could have been more businesses many years ago.

can you name any lakes you traveled and maybe we call all help you piece it together?

Excuse me sir.........Are you Mr Powell........

That started a 2 hour conversation as we waited for groups to be ferried to Clay Lake. Honestly that conversation was the absolute best part of the entire trip.

I know this is an old thread but thought I’d share. Chippewa Inn is officially under new ownership. We stayed at Sagonto recently and ended up buying our leeches next door at Chippewa as a group had just cleaned Sagonto out. I think perhaps they are doing long term rentals only at this point. But it’s cool to have that historic camp up and running again :)
