Hey guys,

I'm planning on not only picking up a hammock for my girlfriend but probably an extra if not new main hammock for myself. I was thinking of getting a couple of ridgerunners to remedy the common problems associated with gathered end hammocks. Does anyone have one or have used one that can comment? I have a WBBBXL and love Warbonnnet's quality.

just curious, what is your situation with gathered end hammocks? since i went to dutch's hammocks, which are gathered end, they are so comfy, i had uncomfortable hangs with hennessy, and warbonnett.

I was originally dead-set on getting a couple new chameleons until i discovered this ridgerunner. I don't like the calf ridge, shoulder squish, just lacks the space of a tent I miss (never going back). This ridgerunner looks to be a better fit

i have the chameleon and experience no shoulder or calf issue, i am 6', 195 lbs.
there just seems to be so much room in them. i had another dutch 11 ft. hammock and had the same roomy feel. i always strung it with the proper 30 degree, not to tight hang. the hexon material, 1.6 is really nice, btw. good luck with your search.

Fizics, I am a recent black bird/xlc to ridgerunner convert and couldn't be happier. I had many great nights in my blackbirds but also had a few calfridge nights. After a user error where I broke the xlc's bug net zipper which was unrepairavle according to warbonnet, I got a deal on a ridge runner. Best hammock sleep I've had yet. Back, side stomach has all been comfortable. My hammock gear incubator fits well with 4 mini biners clipped to the corners. The only issue is my superbly tarp cam be a bit tight fitting for to the spreader bars but a new tarp or sone creative ties outs can fix that.

It's well worth the price

Every person I've let borrow my RR has their own now. It's the best hammock I've used out of the 10-12 I've slept in overnight. I can't recommend it enough and it is pretty easy to get them set up side by side by pushing their suspension triangle apart with a stick, paddle, trekking pole...etc. I use mine backpacking with my DIY quilt sent and my entire setup with food, pack, etc. is still under 20 lbs. with a full 2 liter bladder.

As always, a good chance to try it out for yourself is best.

A dog did bite a hole in the netting this summer, but Warbonnet already repaired it and sent it back! Love their customer service.

2l water = 4.4lbs
Ridgerunner/suspension/bars~ 2lbs

so quilts+
tarp+
pack+
clothes+
cookset+
food+
anything else
is less than 13.6lbs? That's pretty good.

Yeah! It took a while to make/buy my go to gear, but now packing takes all of 10 minutes aside from the food prep. I bought a big agnes UL tent a few months ago but just don't need to shed the last pound to sacrifice the comfort of a hammock after trying it out. I'll still use it when my fiance comes with me though.

I had to buy an extra one of these after realizing how amazing the first one was. Pack

MSR Micro Rocket

DIY Quilts and DIY tarp combine about 5 lbs
Ti-cup
Mini Sawyer Filter (sometimes I bring my 14 oz. pump filter if speed is more important)
Dehydrated meals edible out plastic I package them in or the cup occasionally
Plastic Whiskey flask
Socks
