I caught a very good sized Pike on Fourtown a few years ago just off of campsite 1102. I was pointed in that direction by some of the locals in Ely while I was hydrating for my trip the night before we left.
Not sure about this time of year but in July the points on the west side of horse produced plenty of walleyes and smallies for us. Also one 40+" northern that shredded a 12" walleye I was reeling in. Very steep rocky drop offs, 20 feet of water less than 10 yards from shore. Leeches under a slip bobber or vertically jigged was the ticket.
I fished on the south end (where the portage is) of the lake some years ago and about this time of year. I caught my limit of walleyes within a few hours. Mostly just trolling through the logs with Rapalas.
