Hi, do any of you use a CPAP when you hammock camp, and if so how do you arrange everything? I've got paralyzed vocal cords, so I can't sleep at all without a CPAP. I've been limiting my trips to one or two nights because that's about as long as I can go without getting exhausted. I recently purchased a portable CPAP to use on camping trips (transcend mini CPAP), but I'm not quite sure how to work it out while hanging. I use a ridge line on my hammock, I'm thinking of trying to suspend it from that, and maybe put the battery in the hammock storage pouch, I think it's a little too heavy to hang from the ridgeline. My hammock is an ENO double nest. Thanks,

I don't have any direct experience to share but it sounds like you have a good plan.

I was looking for pictures of the device you bought because we have a camp mate that tried to bring his one from home once. I found this setup where it is on top of your head. If you can do that you should be O.K. hanging the pump on the ridgeline. Those loops on the side make a built in place to hang it from.
Head mounted CPAP

The advice I can share from the trip with the PPAP is the test your setup more than once at home and make sure you are familiar enough with it to use in the dark when half asleep. He burned out part of his setup when he pluged it in wrong in the dark.

I would sugest hanging the bugnet with the door on the opposite side of the pouch and all the wires and hoses. That should make it easier to get in and out.

I have never fallen out of an ENO but make sure that if you somehow did you would not get hung in a noose.

Post a picture or report for the next guy to know how it worked.

Good luck!

Thanks Proepro. That headmount is an interesting rig.
I did a test Friday night and it worked out very well. I ended up hanging it from 3 loops of cord, 1 through each pair of tabs on the CPAP, and one under the hose. Without the one under the hose, it kept wanting to tip more vertically. I took some pics without the bugnet to make it easier to see, but having the bug net opening on the opposite side of the pouch is definitely a good idea. The hose on mine is about 6' long. I found it much more comfortable if I slid the CPAP pretty far down towards my feet so I didn't have too much extra hose coiled up on my stomach/chest.
I'm including a few pics, one next to my nalgene for scale. I'll try a few more nights at home, and a couple of short trips in ME before heading to the BWCA.

Thanks for the pics
Well Done
I can still go without mine but I know there may be a time I won't be able to.

Maybe by then Dutch will have a rig for CPAPs :^)

You look well prepared.

If the pump works on it's side you could run the ridgeline directly through the loops.

Good luck blazing this trail for everyone that will follow.

Yikes! Is your structural ridgeline 550 paracord? Might want to go amsteel for that.

Did another night out, and it worked quite well
Proepro... great idea about just running the ridgeline through the loops. I'll check with the manufacture about working on its side, but if that head mounted rig works, I can't imagine being on its side would be a problem.

Hamm0cker... not paracord. My ridgeline is some cord I had from an old tarp, not a much stretch to it at all, I just didn't have it very tight when I took the picture.
I'm going to have to get some amsteel sometime. Sounds like magical stuff from what I've see on some hammock sites.

I am becoming a hanger after 41 years of tenting. I am a CPAP user and have brought my CPAP machine and batteries on my trips the last 7 years.

I saw this older CPAP thread ... does anyone have any nee ideas that have worked for them?

I was thinking of hanging my ResMed 9 machine on the ridgeline inside my Warbonnet Blackbird. But I also have the AC to DC converter and Lithium battery pack and was thinking of putting on the internal shelf of the Blackbird hammock. Lots of weight.

Or maybe do an inside ridgeline and outside setup ? Ummm

Input appreciated.

Dream Hammock Ridgeline Sling

Dream Hammock Gear Sling

Elemental Gear Loft

Hammockgear Mesh Ridgeline Gear Loft

I was looking bat these Ridgeline Slings and Gear Lofts to hold my CPAP Machine and Battery Pack and AC/DC Converter. I prefer to have them inside the hammock on the ridgeline for easy access, keep dry and to operate at a warmer temperature in cold weather.

Not sure these are stable enough to hold equipment horizontally. I have read that some CPAP users have been successfully using the Gear Sling.

The no seeum netting on the Gear Lofts is a nice design as it would allow the least amount of air interference for the CPAP Machine to operate.

Dang bringing CPAP Equipment on a canoe trip is a pain.
