hello all!

we're headed to WCPP for the first time in a little over 3 weeks from now, and excited to say the least! we're flying into artery lake, making our way upstream on the bloodvein, down simeon creek through dunstan, down to royd, rostoul, hansen lakes, and out through onnie lake.

has anyone been through the simeon creek/dunstan lake area this year?

water levels in this area have been my main concern since planning the route. it's been a fairly wet year here in Michigan, but from the little I've read, it's unseasonably dry up in WCPP.

we're really hoping we don't have to do miles of wading through rocky creek bed. fingers crossed.

This reply is obviously too late for you, but for anyone else interested in this area, Simeon creek, Dunstan, Royd, Rostoul, and Hansen lakes are still closed as of 8/23. With quite a bit of smoke in the areas--downwind of the fire zones. I was on the Bloodvein a couple of weeks ago and water levels in the park are very low this year, over a foot down from the previous year. The Simeon creek to Dunstan is a rock garden in normal years, it must be virtually unnavigable this year.

I would call Harlan to ask about an alternate plan. Lots of areas not affected by the burn that would be less affected by the low water levels.
