TheSheriff: "I'm planning a trip for the second week of August for EP 4 on Crab Lake. I'm bringing a couple buddies from Missouri who really want so do some walleye fishing. I've grown up in Minnesota regularly fishing for bass and northern, while only occasionally going after Walleye. I've typically used a slip bobber rig with a leach about a foot off the bottom.
I'm looking to show these guys what fishing in Minnesota is all about, and would love whatever advise people could give me on targeting walleye. I plan on doing most of the fishing on Cumming and the surrounding lakes and was wondering if anyone has ideas for spots on and around there that would be good for walleye.
Thanks in advance of any tips! "
I'm pretty sure the best lakes around there for walleye are Buck & Western, which are by all accounts pretty great walleye lakes, but not particularly easy to get to from that EP. You'll be showing them what fishing in MN is all about, but you'll also be showing them what portaging is all about, so make sure they're up for it if you think you want to go there.
As far as I know, Cummings doesn't hold any walleye, but you might be able to find some on Crab.
