I am looking at spending a week on LLC the 19th-25th of May. What would you guys recommend for gear? Will I be able to get away with a 40 degree quilt and -15 degree bag, or would you recommend a better quilt than what I have currently? I have had my eye on an outdoor vitals mummypod or enlightened equipment quilt , but I am open to just about anything.

If anyone has any ideas/thoughts, please let me know. The coldest trip I have taken previously got down to 20 overnight, and I was a little chilly with my present setup.

Seasonal lows are in the 40's so plan accordingly. I have both a bridge and gathered end hammock system and am finding managing temps varies with the two styles and tarp issues. Giving input to your set up is hard to do, but if you "need to" upgrade for the trip then you have all the justification you need.

I'm good to the upper 20's with my 40 degree underquilt and my 0 degree bag. I think zippering a bag gives me a couple more degrees of tolerance since there is no seam for heat to escape. I also rig my superfly in storm mode to trap heat.

We went pretty much the same dates this year and it was 50s at night and 80s during the day. I was obviously more than fine with 20F Top und Underquilts. I think you'll have to wait for the forecast and then select your gear accordingly. I'd maybe get the 20F UQ just so you are ready for colder temps (works fine when warm as well) and assuming you have lighter sleeping bags already use whatever suits your need up top.
