This is the alpha version which was used for ten days this past Fall in the BWCA for about forty portages.
It worked very well.
In the beta version, I am making some minor changes in the foam pattern and adding non-slip fabric on the outer sides of the right and left pads.
The 1/2” plywood base measures 14-1/2” wide x 8” deep.
Each pad is 4” wide.
The 1/2” closed cell foam base extends out 1/2” beyond the front of the base to protect the back of the neck.
Additionally, there is another 1/2” foam pad that is on the middle of the collar and next to the neck.
The main foam is 2” thick extra-firm foam.
The hardware is galvanized and not stainless in this version.
The plywood base has not been varnished or sealed in any way in this version.
The outer fabric is coated 500 denier Cordura.
The top has a lining of coated 1.9 ounce ripstop.
The access zipper is #8 YKK with a no-rattle zipper pull and a zipper flap.
The attachment hardware is 1/4” x 2” machine screw.
There is no wear on it.
I think that is about it.
