Alright I need some honest opinions because everyone in my group says, "I don't care I just want to catch fish." I am planning my group of 4's trip for the 3rd week of June. I either want to go in Mudro and head for Friday/Saturday Bay or go in Snowbank and head for South Arm of Knife. One other person in my group and I have been to Friday Bay and truly enjoyed it and caught plenty of fish for late July. I just want some honest opinions on which is better to fish. I kind of want to see something new (I haven't been to Knife) but I really enjoyed Crooked as a whole last time. What do you all think? We aren't afraid of a hard first day either. It is going to be a 7 day trip.

I didn't get to SAK in early June this year but was on the west side of Knife. Went into Kek and had no problem catching a couple lake trout. I imagine the fishing on Knife would have been good. It did get warm pretty fast this year, at least around Minneapolis, so I don't know if the fishing would be as good in late June. The cool thing about Knife is you can just troll like 100ft from shore and hit the dropoffs and contours of the lake. It's a beautiful lake too so it's not such a burden to paddle around all day even in wind. SAK is pretty decent fishing from what I've read.

That being said, I've read such good things about Crooked that I'm probably going there for my 8 day early June trip next year. Would stay on LBF-Crooked-Moosecamp-Fourtown. Depending on the campsite availability we might end up having to stay on Boot (from Fourtown) for the last night or two, hopefully not though.

I think you can't go wrong with either one. SAK in a day is doable with double portaging but with a headwind it's a long paddle down Knife. Early June winds on Knife this year stopped my friends and I early of the portages to Kek on our first day and we ended up camping on Knife. Day 2 to Kek was insanely windy as well. I don't know how high winds would affect your/my experience on Crooked; it's not a small lake so I imagine waves will build up from bay to bay. Anyway, I think Crooked may have better fishing overall but I can say the Knife/SAK area is excellent for beauty and probably excellent for fishing as well. You get all the big stuff Crooked has (smallies, walleye, pike) but lake trout too. The deep clear water is also delicious out there. Knife and Kek had amazingly clear water.
