Looking to go after some splake for the first time. Im just curious if there are any special regulations as far as bait etc. I havent found anything on this yet.

If you are planning to fish a designated Trout Lake you can not use minnows.

I was reading about people using salted minnows in the outdoor news report so that is why i am asking.

Yes you can, I should of stated live minnows can not be used.

You can only use 1 line on designated trout lakes also.

Hey TGO, you probably don't remember me or my buddy when we came in several years ago talking about the lake we were going to outside of the BWCA for Blue walleyes and splake. This was winter time. You asked us how we heard about that lake. A few drinks in a bar can help with the locals:) My buddy has a cabin on a lake by Ely.
