I know this topic has been covered before. I am interested in doing a fall solo (late September), potentially in the Q.

1. In 2013, I was able to get a day permit to enter the Quetico on a BWCA trip by mail.

2. Could you get an overnight permit by mail? Anyone tried?

3. Theoretically, if not, could you get a town to PP and back to get your permit, then enter the park elsewhere on the following day? (For example, could I hire a tow to take me to PP, fill out permit/payment, tow back, drive to Mudro next day, enter Q via Basswood River?)

The closing date for the PP ranger station is sometime around mid-September. Since you'll be entering after that, I would recommend that you call the Atikokan ranger station to discuss your scenario. (807) 597-2735

My guess is they will work out the permit situation with you through the mail. You'll still need an RABC permit.

If you call the ranger station, post their response here. Good information for others, too.

What? You want me to figure it out for myself? Just kidding-I will call and report back my findings.
