My grandfather who suffered from Alzheimer’s passed away recently. He took 46 trips up to the boundary waters, introducing many people to all of the wonders it has to offer. He kept a photo album with all the names of the people he took a trip with and photos dating back to the late 60’s.
My brother and I were already planning on coming to the boundary waters this year. My Grandfather wanted to have some ashes spread in the boundary waters, so this will be a very special trip for us. The request is to have some twizlers and a glass of brandy.
Mid June for 6-7 nights is what we are planning, It will just be my brother and I. We are still young and very fit, so we don’t have a problem traveling long distances. I know I have a lot of options on where to go from ep 37. With that said. I would like to see the pictos on fishdance, and from there... I’m kinda up for opinions. We are mainly targeting walleye, but are not opposed to other species. Lakes we are looking at Pan area, Boulder area. Any info on the lakes around there would be great. I’ve looked at the same site for all the different lakes. So I know whah species to expect in the different lakes.
May God bless the memories you have of your grandfather and the trips that he took. Is your planned route one of those he took? I assume that his photo journal includes routes for you to retrace. Precious.

Good luck honoring your Grandfather. I'm sure there will be mixed feelings, but it's a good way to give him a send off. I lost my Dad not long ago. He taught me to fish and I nearly always think of him when I'm out there.
Fantastic idea. He sounds like he really loved the place.
I'd suggest those pictos on Fishdance. There is just something about that cliff face. Alice is a pretty close lake to them as well, and while we had no luck on our trip, I've heard that others have.
The beach site on Malberg is fantastic. Sandy beach, great views out onto the bay, really frames up the lake well. We pushed hard for a day to get there, and it was well worth it.
