Second in a monthly series
I’m back at it with a new set of numbers showing the permits remaining for the 153 days in the reservation season. 63 entry points x 153 dates = 9,639 numbers representing the 41,049 permits offered each year.
This data was collected one week before the beginning of the month of May. Hopefully, I can continue to present similar snapshots of permits remaining each month on May 25, Jun 24, Jul 25, and Aug 25.
The rationale for the study may be found in my first installment for 2019:
BWCAW Permit Availability Study March 25, 2019
So, here are the results for April 24, 2019 (7+ weeks into the reservation period). I hope you'll enjoy exploring the twenty-one pages of stats on the permits remaining at each of the 63 individual entry points and the three summary pages at the end:

scotttimm: "Can I ask a question about the color formatting? Looking at the monthly snapshots, for example, the EP 16 Moose River - why is a "5" green in June but light red in September?"
Yikes! Thank you, scotttimm! You found a conditional formatting range error I made for Jul, Aug, and Sep in all of the individual EP pages. (cyclones30 found the same error of mine last month in my summary calendar, but I didn't think to also check each individual entry point. Duh...)

Got that pesky conditional formatting fixed and the individual EP calendar colors make a lot more sense. Thanks to both of you for digging deeply enough to find areas in need of correction. Together, we're better.

I was working on learning some web scraping and app development and schweady's work reminded me that the BWCA permit reservation page would be the perfect thing to practice with. I created a script that would go through all the dates and pull the number of available permits and then publish them to a page where you can compare two entry points. The method I'm using lacks control over formatting the cells like in schweady's results, but it was a fun exercise. You can access it at the link below.

Is it possible to compare more than two EPs at a time?
"
Yes, there’s not really any limit on the number other than space on the screen. I would just have to adjust the code. How many are you thinking?
