Is anyone heading into the BWCA for the first days/week of opener? I won't be there the first week, but hope to get up there the following week (and no, I'm not just waiting so I can watch Game of Thrones final episode).

Well since out I’ve been catching crappies of the dock. We put cribs in back in the 70’s and a few sunken boats/canoes. The walleyes love spawning in my bay it’s a real hard bottom perfect for walleyes. Been catching really big females lately. The 24-34 inchers they are just roaming, haven’t seen the dinks 11-18 inchers yet but if the sun shines the walleye run in my lake should be done next week. Heard from a native friend there’s still a lot of ice on lac la croix and he couldn’t get the boat out to check things out. Walleyes will be on the reefs on opener. The lil dinks will be treading current as usual looking for a minnow. Lakers will be easy to catch on any LT lake with your fav bait under a slip bobber. I usually stuff tuna in oil in a spawn sack. Lakers role in that tuna in oil I’m not joking.

We've been going in the Thursday after fishing opener for many years. Usually take the motor boat to chase walleyes on opener and the canoe to chase walleyes the weekend after. This tradition will be no different this year!

I'm leaning towards seeing how the bite is on Seagull for opener. Head up Friday after work, sleep in my car - enter early Saturday AM and leave Sunday afternoon. Short and quick weekend, definitely; but its been a long winter and im itchin' to get back up north.

I think it’s funny that no one even responds to the oxygen thief’s responses anymore :-)
