I love to season everything with all types of wonderful spices and condiments, I started just bringing ("borrowing" from work) salt and pepper packets as well as different levels of hot sauce packets, but would rather bring "elite" spices for fish and foods. How do you all pack 4-10 different condiments? Oh also, I solo so space is important.

I've used a number of different bottles/shakers over the years for spices. The best so far are the smaller zip lock bags that you see for small retail items like ear rings or in my case fishing flies. I can add a few of them to a reg sized zip lock and be fit them just about anywhere in my pack. Of course if you're bringing spices you gotta bring old bay

For me it how I pack them varies with how much I need and how often I'll use it. For things I use a couple times or need to reseal I like little 1oz nalgenes (I think 1oz) like a mix of kosher salt and fresh ground pepper, wasabi powder, a mix of dry oregano/thyme/basil. I usually go a bit bigger for sugar and powdered milk. Saffron often comes in a little two part disk that I just tape shut until use. For some single use spices or liquids like rice wine vinegar I'll make very small seal-a-meal packets to help ensure no leaks. All my spices for fish frying get pre added to my flour/corn meal mixture.

My favorite condiment carriers are old 35mm film canisters but they are hard to come by these days. My son has started doing a little film photography and I hoard his canisters.

I use plastic straws, put the seasoning in, pinch both ends with a pliers and apply heat. Write “cumin” or whatever on it with a sharpie, slide it in the ziploc. Done.

Nice!

I get packets of things i know I want from minimus. Jelly tubes, bbq sauce, relish, onions (they are actually out of onions right now...) hot sauce etc. Single serve means I dont have to worry about bacteria growth and the added weight of the empty packets is pretty small for the safety trade off.

Folks, all really good responses,
@HammerII, I like that idea of tiny bags then in one more, and esp the Old Bay as I do live in the Mid-Atlantic! The only personal concern is I try to get away from plastic as much as possible.
@Jaywalker, Wow, I do lot of cooking, but bringing rice rice vinegar and wasabi to the BWCA that is the next level. I will def make my own pre-mix for my July solo..and I bet if you are out there I will smell the wasabi...and I will be on my way!
@Straighthairedcurly, many moons ago when I was on deployments 35mm canisters was the go to for bringing lots of things spice related as the food generally needing a kick no matter where you are.
@anothonyp007, that is very very creative and reusing straws. I myself I would worry about breaking them open, which if packed right should'nt happen.
@goaljohnbill, "obtaining" "free" packets has normally been my go to then putting in a ziplock.

Question, I have some old film canisters but I googled and couldn't find anyone selling the old shaker tops for them. Where do you find yours?

I just use the nalgene travel containers. Solid lids and rated as food safe.
