I wear bifocals and have been buying cheapo clip-on sunglasses for my canoe trips. These are OK at best. Don’t want to get prescription sunglasses (bifocals) yet, so was wondering if anyone on the board has found higher-quality clip-on options.

I have probably used, and lost, several hundred pair of clip-ons. I'm a fly fisherman, and I like the ones that flip up so I can have more light to tie on very small flies. The ones I've used most lately are Cocoons. The place where I have most often found them consistently is Cables. They are a bit more expensive than some, but also a bit higher quality. They do scratch, but maybe not a easily as some others I've used. If I'm not fishing I like the Cocoons that just fit over your regular classes. Both of these are polarized.

One of my favorite river past times used to be checking out spots on the river, where drunken "river dorks" & their girlfriends or wives flipped their canoes. All you need is a dive mask & time. A good "dump spot" can provide a haul of loose money, expensive sunglasses, beer, cameras, cell phones, and other misc gear.
Best find: Colt Diamondback pistol, which was returned to owner.
Me actually pay 100 to 250 dollars for a pair of sunglasses?
Never gonna happen!

The sunglass clip that I wear with my prescription trifocals attach magnetically. Obviously, they are sold as a dedicated set. They attach with magnets at the temples -- at the outside upper corners of the lenses -- and hold far more securely than a previous pair where the single magnetic attachment was at the bridge of the nose. Strong winds on motor rides, etc have never budged these. I had a rude awakening, however, when I broke one in half while carrying them uncased in my pants pocket: $70.00 for a replacement.

That’s exactly how I broke my last pair of really good clip-ons. Note to self - use the case
