I currently bring 3 small lightweight plastic cutting boards that are 6" x 10". This allows for versatility (serving platter, fillet station, fish breading, veggies, etc..) and I would like to know what others use?

Many sites I will fillet fish on a paddle or the underside of a flipped canoe, yet these applications don't always work given the campsite/location.

What have you found to be the best for your crew?

I use the canoe paddle as a filet board. Everything else I have a custom made fiberglass pack from my father that has a flat top. If I have anything to cut I use the top of that.

I've used paddles & also I made a clone of granite gear's triangle thwart bag - it has a cutting board in the bottom which also acts as a stiffener for the bag.

For my food I have a small cutting board from REI that's about 5x8 inches or so. Big enough. For fish I copied an idea from one of Hoops videos; I took a GSI cutting board, trimmed it down a bit to be more narrow, drilled 1/4 inch holes around the edges, and affixed a same shape piece of blue closed cell foam to the bottom with zip ties. Attach 5 feet of cord through one last hole, and my fishy board can be tied to a branch and just float in the water when not in use. Waves will clean it off, and if a bear finds it he's welcome to it. Travels with me when I head out fishing as I usually clean fish away from camp. The blue foam also helps grip the rock underneath so my cutting board isn't moving around while I slice. Used it on last two trips and love it.

You can also use it for entertainment. Less effective on solo trips.

Also great as a plate for a week when a friend forgets to tell you that everyone is responsible for bringing their own plate.

For a cutting board I have a small circular one that fits into our pots. But because we don't fish we barely need a cutting board. It just gets used for some veggies and is probably better than beating up our plastic plates.

I did at one point by some flexible cutting boards and hated them. They might be good at home on a counter but I only took them on one trip. Might work to protect your paddle blade, though.

We take a small (5x8 ??) thin plastic cutting board. Don't use it too much, but it is only an ounce or so.

Paddle for cleaning fish. Also take a small square of Lexan for food prep.

I've got to agree....that filet station is a great idea. Kneeling on the rocks to fillet enough fish for a party of six keeps getting harder every year. The idea of having a nice waist level fillet table at our campground sounds very appealing!

a chunk of HDPE.....I forget dimensions, but I cut it 1) to fit inside the back foam sleeve on my Kondos pack, 2) to just fit inside the edges of my reflector oven.
Works as a cutting board, fish cleaning board, pizza prep and retrieval board(fits 2 pizzas), flame fanner, make shift wind blocker for stove, etc. Make sure to round off the corners. Weighs very little.

I use flex cutting boards. Farberware Flex Poly Cutting Boards I don't need a ridged board and since I have round food barrels they bend around the inside and don't take up room.

I used an adjustable waist strap and leftover, shock-corded tent poles. I modified the design pictured to recess the shock cord top knots which got filleted off a couple times.

This is what we use as well. They just get rolled around a piece of gear or on the inside of the bear vault. For filleting, though, I usually use a paddle blade so it is rigid.

Fish cleaning I cut a piece of 1/8in ply wood that fits into my backpack (round off the corners). Clean fish all week, last night it goes into the fire pit. Weighs almost nothing, easy to clean off and nothing to carry out.

+1 i tape a piece of plywood to the bottom of my canoe , no extra hands or space needed .

I have two 1/4" pieces of plywood that each have two coats of varnish on them. I cut them square to fit neatly in the foam padding pocket of my pioneer pack. When we hit camp they get deployed on top of my 2 gamma seal buckets and work great for kitchen work space, cutting board, fire fanners, etc. Cheap, easy, versatile.

I love this cutting board idea. A Whitewater kayaking guide on the New River always told me, "McDowell work smarter not harder".

This. Having more than one (for segregating foodstuffs during prep) and not taking up any noticeable space and weight is very handy. Found my set in a supermarket.

Cut and painted some old paneling to fit over my gunnels. 2 coats of polyurethane. I just clean my fish out over deep water. Wedge it under my seat along with my 2 paddles during portaging. Don't even need to tie it in.

This is the finest multi-use item available and has been part of my Backcountry kit since the patent on flight rings ran out.
Plate, lid, mushroom cleaning bowl, chore decider (call 'up' or 'down'), sink, emergency paddle (add duct tape & stick), signal flag, flutter guts, golf, catch and cower.

Like the bellows idea!

Might also be a single-use bear deterrent, depending on user proficiency.

And yes - definitely a good cutting board too.

Granite Gear canoe seat board. The bottom of the canoe is best IMHO, but I used this last week and it worked great for eater fish.
