Depending on whether and the lake temps, you may not need much. We were just on the north side of the BWCA over Memorial Day, catching lakers on stick baits and spoons. They were still shallow. The weather hasn't been that great but will begin to warm and push them deeper. I would still drag big spoons behind the canoe. If that doesn't work, go vertical working down the basin to deeper depths using jigging spoons.
